Oklahoma AFL-CIO Endorses Dianne Hunter for State House District 96
Edmond, OK- On Saturday June 28th, The Oklahoma State American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) announced its support of Democratic State House District 96 candidate Dianne Hunter for the 2008 election cycle.
“As a former Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) member, I know what it’s like to walk on a picket line and stand with my fellow workers for our rights. Labor Unions are the backbone of America and I am honored to have the support of the Oklahoma State AFL-CIO,” says Hunter.
“The AFL-CIO stands for the right to a quality standard of living and the fair treatment of all workers,” Hunter says. “Its influence is far-reaching here in the state, and I am very thankful to the organization for its support. Cooperation such as this is the key to making changes that will benefit the working class.”
Hunter says many key issues are relevant to Oklahoma workers such as health care, education, and our economy. “Fixing our broken health care and insurance system, affordable college education, and lowering our high gas and food prices…these are things that truly matter to the working families of Oklahoma.”
The Oklahoma AFL-CIO is made up of over 30 different labor unions including the Transport Workers Union of America, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Hunter says she is looking forward to working with the Oklahoma State AFL-CIO and its individual labor unions on spreading her message around House District 96.
